While North Carolina and South Carolina are home to some of the nation's best medical research and treatment facilities, many residents still do not have adequate access to health care services. Multiple factors influence this, including ability to pay, lack of insurance or distance from care facilities. The Duke Endowment supports programs designed to bridge these gaps.
