  • National Health Care for the Homeless Council is a network that works to improve the health of homeless people. A recent study (pdf) by the Council highlights the use of mobile units to extend care to those who otherwise would not receive it. The website includes information on upcoming news and events, as well as policy and advocacy updates and resources.

Evaluation

The Duke Endowment is committed to a continuous review of its grants and initiatives. All projects are assessed for effectiveness, stewardship and alignment with mission.

In January 2000, the Endowment asked grant recipients to document their experiences with the program. Twelve of the 15 hospitals receiving grants provided information about their programs' target populations, medical services offered, health problems identified, staffing and training, cooperative efforts, mobile unit operations, and lessons learned.
