In North Carolina and South Carolina

• Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership supports community goals to improve life in 12 neighborhoods near Duke University and to boost achievement in seven public schools and one charter school close to campus. It promotes Duke student public service in Durham as a high educational priority.
• DukeEngage provides funding for Duke undergraduates who want an intensive civic engagement experience anywhere in the world, including in Durham. Through DukeEngage, students use classroom learning to address societal issues.
• Northwest Crescent Center is a neighborhood-based multi-service center developed by Furman University and three community partners. The center houses early childhood development programs, literacy education for children and adults, a community health clinic and senior citizens programs.

In the United States and Abroad

The Corporation for National & Community Service is a federal organization that supports service and volunteering in the United States through programs such as Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America. The website contains opportunities for service, research and news, including reports on college student volunteerism.

Evaluation

The Duke Endowment is committed to a continuous review of its grants and initiatives. All projects are assessed for effectiveness, stewardship and alignment with mission. Due to its scope, the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership has undergone a formal evaluation process, and has been part of a study on the impact Duke University has on the Durham area.
