Seeding Economic Growth

vid_Rural_Carolinas
Through Program for the Rural Carolinas, The Duke Endowment worked with traditional beneficiaries — hospitals and rural United Methodist churches — to lay the foundation for far-reaching economic change in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Rural communities are looking to new approaches and partnerships to survive the many challenges posed by globalization. To encourage economic growth in rural North Carolina and South Carolina, The Duke Endowment launched an effort in 2001 involving 22 communities and $11.7 million in grants.
