Prevention

In an era of soaring health care costs and increasing need for social services, prevention is gaining attention from health care providers, insurers and social service providers. Effective prevention saves money and improves quality of life by helping people avoid acute illnesses, chronic diseases or injuries. The Duke Endowment encourages efforts that maintain wellness and keep manageable health concerns from developing into serious problems. We also support programs that work to prevent societal problems, such as child abuse.
