As Western North Carolina (WNC) communities continue to initiate programs and strategies that will help reduce childhood obesity, WNC Healthy Kids, The Duke Endowment, and Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) are sponsoring a regional training that will help providers maximize the effectiveness of their limited time and resources. But how do you find evidence-based strategies? What strategies can you use to implement them effectively? In this videoconference we will identify key sources for evidence-based interventions, review criteria to decide whether they are likely to work in your setting with your audience, and discuss key factors in replicating strategies that have succeeded elsewhere.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
• List at least four databases of evidence-based interventions (EBIs)
• Provide an orientation to effective implementation strategies for the use of evidence-based programs
• Describe three items to consider in assessing whether EBIs will work in your own community
• List three core components necessary for implementation and their use in the field of evidence-based programs
