- An article in the Jan./Feb. 2003 edition of the North Carolina Medical Journal attributes a decline in cervical cancer cases over the past several decades to successful screening and early detection, but also looks at disparities in incidence and mortality.
- The Cancer Prevention & Control Program at the University of South Carolina conducts research and works with individuals, organizations and communities to encourage and make possible cancer prevention, early detection and appropriate care for those diagnosed with cancer. - The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization. The website provides information, including frequently asked questions about HPV, cervical cancer and the HPV vaccine.
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the primary public health agency in the United States. The website provides fact sheets, a vaccine information statement, school vaccine requirements, information for health professionals and answers about HPV and the vaccine.
- The Food and Drug Administration, the federal agency responsible for ensuring that food, drug and cosmetic products are safe, approved the vaccine Gardasil in 2006. The website contains questions and answers about HPV and the vaccine.
- The National Cancer Institute is a division of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and conducts research programs into cancer. The site includes fact sheets, research information and reports on HPV and cervical cancer.
- The Missouri Foundation for Healthis the largest non-governmental funder of community health activities in Missouri. In 2007, the foundation awarded $11 million to provide the human papillomavirus vaccine for 30,000 girls and women. The website includes printed and electronic materials related to the grant announcement.
