North Carolina Prevention Action Plan Released

North Carolina residents spend more than the national average on health care, and yet the state compares poorly to others in terms of overall health. To support the development of a statewide agenda for health and wellness, The Duke Endowment helped fund a 15-month task force in 2008 to research, study and improve public health by focusing on prevention. At the first meeting in April 2008, the Task Force on Prevention co-chair Leah Devlin challenged members to move from "triage and treat" to "prevent, promote and protect."

The Task Force completed its initial work in October 2009 by releasing a 365-page Prevention Action Plan.
