Pam Silberman, head of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine, shares her thoughts on prevention work in North Carolina. Statewide Agenda for Health and WellnessNorth Carolina residents spend more than the national average on health care, and yet the state compares poorly to others in terms of overall health. To support the development of a statewide agenda for health and wellness, The Duke Endowment helped fund a 15-month task force in 2008 to research, study and improve public health by focusing on prevention. The Task Force on Prevention will identify top strategies to help the Division of Public Health, community organizations and foundations set prevention priorities.
