In 2004, The Duke Endowment awarded grants of $25,000 to Dulin United Methodist Church in Mocksville and $25,000 to Union Grove United Methodist Church in Union Grove to build homes in partnership with Wesley Community Development Corp.

In its work to benefit Rural Churches, The Duke Endowment accomplishes lasting change by supporting innovative approaches and funding proven programs through North Carolina’s rural United Methodist Churches. For more information, see our Rural Church overview.

We work with the North Carolina and Western North Carolina conferences of the United Methodist Church and Duke Divinity School to:

  • Improve rural communities
  • Strengthen and challenge rural churches
  • Reward retired United Methodist ministers
