Creating Healthier Habits

The Crossnore School is helping children like Daulton and Christian learn to live healthier lives.

A 2003 survey of children's homes in North Carolina and South Carolina revealed that 24 percent of the children in these homes were overweight. To help create and sustain environments that support healthy eating and physical activity at 25 children's homes in North Carolina and South Carolina, The Duke Endowment invested $1.5 million from 2004 to 2008.
