Tamika Williams Promoted to Director of CFWB

The Duke Endowment is pleased to announce that Tamika Williams has been promoted to director of the Child and Family Well-Being program area. Phillip H. Redmond Jr., former director of the Child and Family Well-Being program, has transitioned to the role of special advisor to the president.

Williams joined The Duke Endowment in 2011 after 13 years working as a social worker and administrator in child welfare. In her new role, she will lead the Endowment’s grantmaking and partnerships focused on strengthening systems and supports for children and families. Since joining the Endowment, Williams has led several key projects, including the planning and development of Launch Carolinas, an initiative focused on cultivating the next generation of nonprofit leaders; co-developing the Child and Family Well-Being team’s advocacy and communications grantmaking strategy; and advancing the Endowment’s work related to kinship care.

Redmond joined The Duke Endowment in 2000 after seven years at the Children’s Law Center in Charlotte, N.C., including three years as executive director. As special advisor to the president, Redmond will partner with President Rhett Mabry and grantmaking teams on key initiatives, including developing shared funding opportunities with North Carolina and South Carolina state governments and helping to accelerate the Endowment’s emphasis on supporting children from ages 0 – 8 across program areas, including place-based work. He also will lead cross-departmental coordination and collaborate with grant makers to refine and expand signature initiatives, including Special Grant Opportunities. Redmond came to the Endowment as assistant director of the Child and Family Well-Being program area and was promoted to director in 2016

Phil and Tamika exemplify The Duke Endowment’s commitment to improving outcomes for children and families across the Carolinas,” Mabry said. I’m grateful for their leadership and look forward to continuing to work alongside them in their new roles.”

Williams and Redmond assumed their roles on May 12026.
