Hope Morgan Ward

Ward served as Bishop of the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church from 2012 until her retirement in 2021. She currently serves as Ecumenical Officer for the Council of Bishops of the United Methodist Church, and as Bishop in Residence for the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. She graduated from Duke University and received her Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School. Prior to her roles as bishop, she served as a local pastor, a district superintendent and as connectional ministries director for the North Carolina Conference. She has served on the Board of Trustees for Duke University and on the Board of Visitors for Duke Divinity School.
