Senior Program Officer, Health Care

Jay Kennedy joined The Duke Endowment in 2017 as a Program Officer in the Health Care Division of the Endowment. In his current role as Senior Program Officer, he is a champion for grantmaking that supports vulnerable individuals and underserved communities across the Carolinas. He previously served as the rural hospital program manager at the North Carolina Office of Rural Health where he managed two large federal grants that supported small and rural hospitals across the state. Prior to his work in state government, he served as chief operating officer for Maria Parham Medical Center, a rural hospital located in Henderson, N.C. He has over thirty years of healthcare experience and received his bachelor’s degree from Campbell University along with a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from UNC-Chapel Hill.
